Carbon Footprint

The international community has set the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Achieving these goals requires the implementation of energy efficiency strategies and the spread of energy from renewable sources.

Sacet actively participates in these challenges with an investment plan that ensures the energy efficiency of the plant by using self-produced electricity from its own photovoltaic plant and by fully offsetting the natural gas used for heating.

Self-produced electricity has increased from 5% in 2022 to 65% today, saving 90 tonnes of non-emitted Co2 equivalents per year.

Conflict Minerals

Sustainable sourcing, ensured through responsible sourcing (including minerals from conflict zones), has positive impacts on the respect of human and social rights (hindering forced and child labour, the violation of the right to strike and collective bargaining), as well as protecting the environment from the risks of biodiversity reduction, consumption of non-renewable raw materials, groundwater or soil pollution.

Sacet is committed to implementing initiatives to ensure the collection of up-to-date and user-friendly data on conflict minerals, in accordance with European Regulation 2017/821, which establishes duty and diligence obligations in the supply chain for EU importers of tin, tantalum and tungsten, their ores, and gold originating from conflict or high-risk areas.

Product safety and quality

Innovation and new product development must also consider the principles of environmental protection and natural ecosystems, as well as the health and safety of workers using the substances/materials in production processes.

Hence Sacet's commitment to responsible resource consumption, which translates into an eco-sustainable approach to new product development and the use of substances that are not hazardous to the environment or people.

Sacet believes that reducing the use of hazardous substances in production processes, as well as reducing risks for its employees and end users, can bring a benefit to the environment such as a reduction in hazardous waste.

Packaging with low environmental impact

The pillar of innovative and low-impact products includes the packaging component. Packaging, often made for disposal, feeds a linear economy based on waste.

Sacet selects its suppliers to use fully recyclable packaging that reconciles environmental friendliness, waste minimisation and packaging functionality, starting with product protection. It uses only recyclable plastic and cardboard bags for its products.

In addition, suitable packaging is used for the packaging of probes that will come into contact with food, as these bags are also produced following the MOCA (materials-objects-food-contact) guidelines, Ministerial Decree (Health) - L. 21/03/1973 - Disciplina igienica degli imballaggi, recipienti, utensili destinati a venire in contatto con le sostanze alimentari o con sostanze d'uso personale.

Waste Management

Focusing on waste reduction, proper disposal and maximising the share of waste for reuse, recovery or recycling reduces environmental impact. Reduced disposal capacity can lead to increased waste production and environmental pollution (soil, water and air) with effects also on people's health and safety.

The responsible disposal of produced waste is an integral part of Sacet's vision of environmental sustainability.

Sacet manages this activity in compliance with the regulations in force in the territory in which it operates, collecting information and data on waste produced to ensure constant monitoring. This activity is carried out through a punctual reporting system. There is a classification of waste types with a punctual collection of the relative quantities produced. This allows waste to be identified in accordance with the European Waste Code (E.C.R.) and the standardisation of temporary storage areas prior to collection.

Compliances and certifications

Product safety and quality are distinctive factors and competitive levers of strategic importance to Sacet. New product development processes (material research and acceptance, intermediate production stages, final testing) are carried out at Sacet with a particular focus on the identification of applicable standards and the evaluation of subsequent performance.

Diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities

The company promotes respect for diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities through pay equity, meritocracy and a working environment that respects cultural, linguistic, religious, political and ethnic diversity. Respect for human rights is only guaranteed if forced and child labour practices are prohibited along the supply chain.

Sacet considers the ability to work with people from different cultures to be one of its strengths. This requires systems that foster integration, involvement, and the sharing of information and experience, allowing everyone to make their own contribution.

Cultural and gender diversity working together towards common goals has always been a valuable asset for Sacet, an engine that generates innovation and sustainable value.

Health and safety in Sacet

Training is essential to build employees' technical know-how and enable them to grow professionally and improve performance. If adequate opportunities for discussion and feedback are not promoted, there is a risk of not effectively integrating employees, not aligning them with objectives and preventing professional development.

Increased awareness and dissemination of the importance of working safely beyond regulatory requirements and through training and awareness-raising reduces the rate of accidents and illnesses.

Ensuring health and safety, for Sacet's employees and workers, is a fundamental value that the company translates into action in every area.

Underlying this is the constant mapping of operational risks, the monitoring of their evolution and the implementation of actions to minimise them.

Investments and sponsorships in the territory

Sacet's deep connection with the territory in which it operates is expressed through social initiatives and by joining local organisations.

For example, for several years Sacet has supported the local football team, with the aim of promoting sport and contributing to the growth of the local sports association.
